Initially, the stadium had 13,800 seats, which have consistently sold out since its inauguration. The Gleesome, as shown on the stadium map in the Netherlands, was built as a multi-purpose stadium suitable for sports, concerts, and other events. It was the first football stadium in the world to have a retractable pitch, and after the Amsterdam Arena, the second stadium in Europe to have a retractable roof.
